Our Story

Camille and Lily met two years ago whilst working on an ITV comedy-drama series. Their first job together (and Camille’s first time in the production office!), it wasn’t long before the two became as thick as thieves.

Fast forward to December 2023 and they’ve got two more jobs together under their belt - a crazy Apple comedy and a C4 returning comedy series. It was in these production offices that they solidified their friendship, and discovered their shared love of comedy, female-led stories and a desire to put their own silly creations on screen. Without knowing it, Elephant’s Nest had begun…

The women behind Elephant’s Nest…

Lily Papworth

Lily has worked in the wonderful world of telly for the last six years, starting her career in Fact Ent Development and eventually moving across to Scripted Production. It was in the production office that she found her feet amongst the organised chaos, although eventually it was the draw of producing that stole her away.

For Lily, Elephant’s Nest is an opportunity to combine the organised with the creative and explore producing on her own terms. She’s excited to test the waters both through personal projects, as well as those of other talented creatives working with Elephant’s Nest.

It is also an opportunity for Lily to try her hand at writing, something that she, previously, had not explored. Supported by Camille and the wonderful team they are building together, she's excited to see her work one day come to life on screen!

Camille Tanner-Smith

After quite literally running away from the circus three years ago, Camille has had the great fortune to work on some incredible shows within the world of television. Although Camille’s career so far has been concerned with the craziness of the production office, writing and directing is where her dream truly lies.

Camille’s aim for Elephant’s Nest is to not only write and direct personal stories, but to also create a broad, inclusive platform that makes space for unheard voices and like-minded creatives. Above all, Camille wants to tell stories that celebrate femininity through a lense of wildness and silliness, the likes of which she has seen within the work of French and Saunders, Ellie and Natascha and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, to name but a few of the formidable women who inspire her.

Above all,  Camille feels this is an opportunity to take the reins in writing, directing and putting the stories she has been working on for years onto the big screen, and beyond! She hopes to have fun with her co-founder Lily, building a new world together and flexing her creative muscles.
